There
are many factors which determine whether a modellengine runs well, and
silencers and tuned pipes are amongst the most important of them. In
addition to muffling the exhaust noise, the silencer or tuned pipe also
has an important influence on the running characteristics of every
motor. In many cases an engine which appears to be a “bad egg” just
requires a good silencer to become manageable. I am constantly striving
to improve the characteristics of my stainless steel silencers, and to
this end they are subject to continuing further development.
The
motor, exhaust system and fueltank form a unit, and the Bubbless
fueltank is the third of the items which complete the unit. Air is
evacuated from the internal tank balloon, and this eliminates the
problem of fuel becoming mixed with air. Air bubbles in the fuel, no
matter how small, make it impossible to set up and tune any motor
efficiently. Since this tank does not feature a clunk pick-up, the
tendency of the engine to lean out as the fuel level declines is reduced
to an absolute minimum.
